General controls
Press the F5 key on your computer to load the preview screen, or anytime you need to reload the video. If you experience an error, simply choose the UNDO option under the EDIT menu {shortcut is CTRL-Z} to reverse the last change (cause of the error) and then use REFRESH PREVIEW option under the VIDEO menu to reload the video {shortcut is the F5 key}.

Toggle boxes
The top section of VideoCleaner includes toggle boxes that are controlled with your computer mouse. When the box is checked, the denoted section becomes active and visible

Feature sliders
Each feature is controlled by a slider that can move anywhere from its leftmost to rightmost position. You can also use your mouse to drag the slider to a new position, or simply mouse click on the left or right arrow located at either end of the slider. On the left of the slider is a brief description, often followed by a default value shown within curly brackets. The current slider value is listed in blue to the far right of the slider. Mouse click on the number in blue to reset the slider to the its value from when you started your session. In general, the leftmost position turns a feature off and rightmost turns it on.

Sliders that can only travel between of a value of zero (0) and one (1) mean that its leftmost position of zero turns the feature OFF, while the rightmost position of one activates the feature (e.g. List all active features (0)). If the slider offers multiple value options, then each value matches its place in a list. For example, the Compare Original to Enhanced (OFF / Side / Atop / Sweep) slider accepts values from 0 to 3, each representing a different feature option

List any active features Slide to the right to see a list of all active VideoCleaner features.

All frames / mid frames / subtract (0) A value of zero (0) leaves the video alone. A value of one (1) limits the video to the middle 100 frames, useful for trying different settings on a slow computer prior to applying them to all frames. A value of two (2) will subtract the enhanced video from the original video, leaving only the changes. This is useful to ensure that important details were not accidentally suppressed.

Deactivate all enhancements (0) Slide to the right to instantly disable all enhancement changes. Changes to core Property settings, like frame ranges or playback speed, are not affected.

MAIN section

Compare Original to Enhanced
Move the slider to the leftmost position to view just the video as it is being enhanced. The next position places the original and enhanced versions side-by-side. The next rightward setting places the original and enhanced atop each other. The rightmost position will show a single video that sweeps back and forth between the original and enhanced versions.

TOOLS This group is your primary tool box with: Automatic lighting, video and color corrections. You can increase color saturation, suppress HotSpots apply unsharpening, sophisticated denoising and automatic lens deblurring. The denoising and deblurring filters require the most time due to the complexity of their algorithms.

EQUALIZER If the video is extremely dark, you can dynamically improve the range of illumination with anti-banding to smooth the lighting level transitions.

CURVE If the video is too dark or too bright, you can set a range of light levels that will be stretched to fill from black to white. Everything outside that range will be pushed to the limits. There is also a gamma value to bend the way the range is stretched.

DEBLOCK Remove the tiling artifacts caused by over compression, with minimal smoothing of scene details.

FORENSIC Trying to read a license plate, identify a face, or otherwise solve a crime requires certain details to be isolated and/or enhanced. This feature group will emphasize object edges, amplify or isolate changes, average away noise, and only work with complete reference frames (iFrames).

ANALYSIS Test the authenticity of an image or video through special filters that can detect content manipulation.

FINAL Colorspace
By default, VideoCleaner operates in 32-bit RGB color space to preserve maximum details. At the completion of its processing, the resulting video can be converted to YUV color-space to create a more compact file size. You also have the option to blend the original and enhanced versions. This filter group will always be the last one listed.
